HOPES DASHED
STOKE Easy Rider Potters hopes of
qualifying for the semi finals of the Premier Trophy have been severely
dented after the Potters scores for the meetings against Somerset and
Scunthorpe have been amended by the Speedway Control Bureau.
Promoter Dave Tattum explained “I’ve
today (Thursday) been informed by the Speedway Bureau that due to no
medical certificate being produced for Glen Phillips for the match at
Somerset last Friday and for the home meeting against Scunthorpe last
Saturday that the meeting results have been amended. “We used rider
replacement for Glen at Somerset which produced seven points and we have
been deducted the seven points which gives an amended result of Somerset
48 Stoke 35.”
Tattum continued “In the meeting at
home to Scunthorpe last Saturday we used Redcar’s Robbie Kessler as a
guest for Glen and Robbie’s eight points have also been deducted from
the final score which now reads Stoke 46 Scunthorpe 41.”
Dave Tattum also confirmed that Glen
Phillips will also miss the home fixture against Workington on Saturday
night after he received a one match suspension. Tattum said “We’ve been
informed that Glen is suspended for Saturday’s meeting and that we are
allowed to use rider replacement for cover for him.”

POTTERS ON FILM
During last nights match we had a
number of Budding media students at Loomer Road. They were filming for
their studies at Staffordshire University where they hope to make MA's
in Sports Broadcast Journalism.
Derek Turner, the Potters Press
Officer was approached by Chris Coles who explains. "Every week we are
required to produce a package that are broadcast across the University
network and I am very interested in producing a package about Speedway
and the Stoke Potters".
"It is also an opportunity to advertise Speedway in Stoke across the
University, as I think many were unaware of the sport and that the
University has a team locally, that some of the students could come
along and watch".
Derek Turner added "It's a great
opportunity to advertise the club and get Stoke Speedway on the
University network".
"Any publicity for for the Easy-Rider Potters is good publicity and
keeps the media spotlight on us".
It's also good to see Speedway getting noticed and the media in general
is always welcome".
"Dave Tattum has recently been on Signal 2 in one of the day time shows
with DJ Paul Fairclough and Phil Morris and Jason Bunyan have both been
on BBC Radio Stoke recently".
"Neil Evans too is doing a sterling job with The Sentinel and Speedway
Star and I do feel that we are reaching out and getting noticed".
