It was Paddy Heath, the then Secretary of the Stoke Speedway Supporters Club, who arranged the Reunion for the 7th July 1997. A lovely day was organised for us with a visit to the Spode Pottery factory museum and to watch in action the various stages of manufacture. We moved on to what was the main entrance to Hanley Stadium, Robson Street. The photographs tell the story. Amazingly, the white lettering Hanley Stadium on the wall was still quite visible after nearly 50 years when it was first painted. We were then taken for a tour of Chatfields, the Ford Agent who had bought and built on the Stadium in 1964. We all travelled to Loomer Road Chesterton for a look at the present Stoke Speedway track. We had a light tea at The Friendly Hotel in Newcastle before travelling to The Hempstalls Pub to meet the supporters who gave us a wonderful reception. It was most satisfying to meet up with many old friends. Sadly since then Ken Adams, Dave Anderson and Arthur Rowe have passed on.
