Potters V Rockets
Premier League.
29/08/09

STOKE Easy Rider Potters got back to winning ways and end a sequence of three successive defeats as they twice came back from six points down to take
a 48-42 victory over the Rye House Rockets in the Premier League at Loomer Road on Saturday night.

The Easy Rider Potters went behind as early as heat two when Tom P Madsen was forced to go off the fifteen metre mark after exceeding the two minutes time allowance. Andrew Silver took a comfortable victory from Craig Branney with Tommy Allen holding Tom P Madsen at bay to take third place and give
the Rockets a 4-2 heat advantage.

The Rockets extended their lead to four points in heat three as Rockets guest Ludvig Lindgren got the better of Lee Complin to take victory with Rockets skipper Chris Neath taking third place ahead of Klaus Jakobsen for a Rockets 4-2 gain an early 7-11 lead.

Stoke struck back with maximum points in heat four as Robert Ksiezak and
Tom P Madsen led the way with Andrew Silver providing a late charge to try and pass Madsen but to no avail as the Potters level the score up at twelve points each.

Rye House number one Robert Mear and Potters skipper Lee Complin clash in heat five Mear leads the way into turn three of lap one but Complin straightens up and catches Mears back wheel causing both riders to fall. Referee Craig Ackroyd disqualifies Complin as the primary cause of the stoppage and Robert Mear is withdrawn from the meeting with a hand injury. In the rerun Joe Haines leads the race from start to finish with Jakobsen second and Mear’s
replacement Tommy Allen finishing third for a Rockets 4-2 as they regain the lead after five heats with the score at 14-16.

In heat six Jason Bunyan comes from last to first to take the chequered flag. Rockets reserve Andrew Silver made a superb start with Stoke’s Jesper Kristiansen in second and Ludvig Lindgren in third place, Lindgren forced his way passed Kristiansen to try and team ride Silver home but Potters number one Bunyan showed his class getting passed Kristiansen first then picking off Lindgren before cutting up the inside of Silver to take a fantastic victory, but
the Potters still trail by two points.

Rye House extend their lead with maximum points in heat seven after Stoke reserve Craig Branney fell while leading in the first running of the race
Branney being disqualified from the rerun. The Rockets made no mistake in
the rerun as Neath and Lindgren headed home Ksiezak to give the Rockets a
18-24 lead at the halfway stage of the meeting.

Stoke forced their way back into the meeting in heat nine as Klaus Jakobsen and Lee Complin gained a 5-1 heat win over Joe Haines and Tommy Allen to reduce the Rockets lead to just two points with the score nicely balanced at
26-28 in favour of the Rockets.

Rye House extended their lead back up to four points as Joe Haines got the better of Robert Ksiezak with Allen taking third place, and the Rockets doubled the dose in heat twelve as Ludvig Lindgren and Andrew Silver gain a 4-2 advantage over Jakobsen to give the Rockets a 33-39 lead with just three races to go.

Stoke though were not finished and not for the first time this season staged another late show as first Jason Bunyan and Ksiezak demolished the Rockets pairing of Allen and Silver in heat thirteen to reduce the deficit to just two
points and then skipper Complin and Tom P Madsen doing the same to Silver and Neath in heat fourteen as the Potters went in front for the first time to lead 43-41 going into the final heat.

Lee Complin and Jason Bunyan made no mistake as they gained maximum points in heat fifteen over Ludvig Lindgren and Joe Haines who suffered an engine failure at the start gate as the Potters gained a 5-1 to give the Potters a 48-42 victory. The Rockets do not leave Loomer Road empty handed though as they take a point away from the meeting while the Potters gain two vital
league points.

Promoter Dave Tattum said “We’ve bounced back well after a two week break from racing and gained an important victory over Rye House tonight. “Rye House are a quality team and twice opened up a six point lead but we came
on strong towards the end of the meeting and finished with three maximum heat advantages to take the win. “If we’re to make the end of season play offs we have got to win all out home matches and we can then hopefully pick up a point or two away from home.”

Stoke 48: Jason Bunyan 12+1, Lee Complin 10+1, Robert Ksiezak 8+1, Klaus Jakobsen 7, Jesper Kristiansen 5+2, Tom P Madsen 4+2, Craig Branney 2

Rye House 42: Ludvig Lindgren 14+1, Andrew Silver 9+1, Joe Haines 8+1, Tommy Allen 4, Chris Neath 4, Robert Mear 3, Linus Sundstrom (Rider Replacement)
