Facher signs

STOKE Easy Rider Potters have signed German World Under-21 finalist Frank Facher on a full contract.

Facher will make his debut in the Potters Premier League clash at Sheffield subject to the ratification of Stoke’s revised one to seven from the British Speedway Promoters Association.

The 21 year old German comes in to replace Czech Republic rider Hynek Stichauer while he is injured.

Accommodation required
We require a part time base for new rider Frank Facher.
Frank will be based in Europe but will need over night stays on race nights etc.

Space will also be needed for Franks U.K. bikes and for working time. This however needs to be little more than a single garage.

Franc for Vissing

The Easy Rider Potters have drafted in Sheffield's Josef Franc to replace Claus Vissing and will use rider replacement for Hynek Stichauer for tonight's Premier League fixture at Loomer Road against Scunthorpe and again on Sunday at Newport after the duo were injured in the defeat at Scunthorpe last night.

Claus and Hynek suffer double injury blow and spectators hurt.

No sooner does he return, then he is possibly out again!!
Claus Vissing and Hynek Stichauer both crashed out of tonight's meeting and Taylor luckily escaped injury after his bike cleared the safety fence before hitting 2 spectators. The spectators were taken to hospital for check ups.

In heat four Claus Vissing fell resulting in the Dane being taken to hospital with an ankle injury and in heat 15, Hynek Stichauer drove around the outside off the final bend but unfortunately came to grief hitting the deck extremely hard and also meaning a trip to hospital for the Czech Republic rider.

Potters team manager Malcolm Vasey said “We’ve had some bad luck tonight and it’s increasingly likely that both Claus and Hynek will not be riding tomorrow night. We will now have to look at our options and Dave Tattum and I will be burning the midnight oil tonight in order to put a team together for tomorrow night’s fixture against Scunthorpe at Loomer Road. I’m off to the hospital now and we will give an update on Claus and Hynek as and when we have some more information. Our thoughts also go to the two supporters who were taken to hospital after Taylor’s bike went over the safety fence and we wish them both a speedy recovery from all Stoke Speedway.”

The latest on JB

Potters Skipper Jason Bunyan says that he knew his arm was broken as soon as it happened in the heat 15 crash on Sunday afternoon.

"I entered the corner and basically the bike just didn't turn, then it picked up grip and the rest is history.
I knew that my arm was broken straight away. I kept telling the paramedic that there's no need to inspect it...it's broken.
The x-ray showed I had basically shattered the arm in 4 places just above the elbow and also broken my hand.
I have had to have 2 plates bolted either side of the broken bones.
Before surgery I had to sign a disclaimer that if the operation went wrong I may never have feeling in the arm or even have the use of it again as they had to mess about with some nerves to do the procedure, but hey, that's just one of those things when racing speedway, at the end of the day, the guys at the hospital had to do what they had to do.
I went down to theatre around 10 in the morning and the op was about 4 hours long, the whole process took around 6 hours.
The Doctors are pretty happy with how things went which is good news but no doubt we will know more in the coming days.
Of course I'm gutted to have got myself back on the bike only to be injured again, but, just as last time, I'll be working hard to get back to fitness and form".

JB confirmed as broken arm

STOKE Easy Rider Potters promoter Dave Tattum has confirmed that Jason Bunyan has broken his arm after crashing in the last heat of  yesterday’s Premier League victory over Berwick.

Tattum said “The news is not good as we’ve now had confirmation that Jason has broken his arm. His arm was put into plaster and he was kept in the university hospital of North Staffordshire overnight and will undergo an operation on the arm later this morning.”

Supporters are asked not to contact the hospital and the club will release a further statement as and when further information is available.

JB taken to hospital

Potters skipper Jason Bunyan has been taken to the University hospital of North Staffordshire with a suspected broken arm.

Speaking just after Bunyan had been taken off to hospital Easy Rider Potters promoter Dave Tattum said “It looks like Jason may have broken his arm and our thoughts go to him and his partner Rosie and we all hope that it’s not as bad as we fear. I will be going up to the hospital a little later and we will then give an update as and when we know something more concrete.”

Potters team manager Malcolm Vasey said "We took all three points but the shiny three points we have just put into the bank does not look all that shiny now it looks like we might well be without Jason for a considerable amount of time and our thoughts go out to Jason and his partner. The lads are really cut up about the accident and would like the supporters to know they did not feel it was appropriate to come out on a victory parade lap and be bouncing around etc as there main concern was with the team’s captain as he is such a talisman for the club both on and off the track.”

As soon as we have news we will get it out to the supporters.

Tomicek signs

STOKE Easy Rider Potters have signed Lubos Tomicek to replace Claus Vissing in the Potters line up.

Tomicek comes into the Potters line up on an 8.96 average and joins the club for the rest of the season.

Promoter Dave Tattum said “We had announced that Henning Bager would be joining the side but unfortunately Henning could only join us until the 7th August so after further discussions with Henning we looked at other options. Lubos had been in touch with us several times in the week and we spoke to him and he was able to commit for the rest of this season with the possibility of if things go well possibly next season also. We did have talks with Claus Vissing after we were informed that an un-named Elite League club had been told that their new declaration had been rejected and in the mean time as Claus was unemployed he had taken a booking in Poland this weekend as he was expecting to be riding in the Elite League at the time and although he could have completed the remaining fixtures for us it was felt his heart was in the Elite League and not the Premier League. We of course wish Claus well.”

Tomicek will make his debut in Sunday’s home meeting against Berwick at 2pm.

Claus out, Bager in

CLAUS Vissing has left the Stoke Easy Rider Potters with immediate affect it has been revealed by the club after Saturday’s home defeat to Newcastle.

Promoter Dave Tattum said “When we signed Claus we knew there was a chance he would be recalled back to the Elite League and that is what has happened. We would like to thank Claus for his efforts and wish him well in the future.”

The Potters have signed Henning Bager who joins the club on a match to match basis.

Bager who has recently had a stint with Redcar joins the Potters on a 9.16 average.

JB to return this weekend

Stoke Easy Rider Potters will be at full strength for the first time since early April as Jason Bunyan confirmed he will return to action in this weekends Premier League clash against Newcastle at Loomer Road on Saturday.

The Potters skipper came through a extensive practice session at the Chesterton circuit on Monday and confirmed that the knee had held up ok and that he was ready to return to action.

Potters promoter Dave Tattum said "It's a real boost to have Jason back he has been such a big loss to us over the past couple of months and I'm delighted he has come through today with no reaction".

D.T. looking for respectable finish

STOKE Easy Rider Potters promoter Dave Tattum is looking for a respectable league position by the end of the 2010 campaign after a slow start to the season for the Potters who are currently eleventh in the Premier League table.

Tattum said “It’s been a disappointing first half of the season in which we’ve had to make changes to our stating line up after what looked to be a decent side on paper just did not perform and I’m looking for a much improved second half of the season with a respectable finish in the Premier League. We’ve brought Claus Vissing back to the club and he has settled in well and brought with him some of the experience he gained in the Elite League over the last couple of seasons and he has passed on some invaluable advice to some of the other lads in the meetings he has ridden in for us, Jan Graversen and Lee Smart have also settled in well and have both been scoring points. Hopefully now Ricky Wells will continue the form of the past few matches along with Hynek who has been riding well of late and with Taylor finding his match fitness after a wrist injury and Jason hopefully returning next weekend there should be no reason to fear anyone at home. We have missed Bunny a lot on the track and in the pits and providing everything goes well over this weekend then he should be back for our next meeting, losing Jason was such a big loss to us as he is so influential and tells things how they are, there is simply no holding back with him and he gives 110%.

We should have a full side starting against Newcastle this coming Saturday, the first time since the beginning of April and I do feel that having a full side will help us. We have had some good guests who have done a superb job for us but there’s nothing like having your own one to seven taking to the track where the lads will have some sort of understanding of where each other will be on the track once the partnerships settle down and I really do hope we can push on from here on in. We have only ridden just over a quarter of the season so far so we have plenty of matches to turn things around and move on up the table and I really don’t think many teams will relish coming to Loomer Road for the rest of the campaign after very good results over Birmingham who are second in the league table and Glasgow who have been revitalised over the last few weeks with the signing of former England international Joe Screen, which shows we are more than capable of beating anyone around Loomer Road and putting up some decent displays away from home where on a few occasions over the first half of the season we’ve just fallen short.

The supporters here at Stoke have been patient with us so far this season and have seen we have tried to make the right changes for the club as we aim to move up the table and over the last couple of matches they have got right behind the lads and have also played their part in the turn around over the last few weeks. I really do hope they continue to get behind the lads for the rest of the season because they really do make a difference to the riders on the track and they effectively become our eighth man so hopefully they will get louder as the season progresses starting against Newcastle this coming Saturday.”

Fitness tests for Potters duo

STOKE Easy Rider Potters duo Jason Bunyan and Taylor Poole both had fitness tests on their respective injuries on Sunday.

After an intensive workout for the two riders news out of the Potters camp was that Bunyan had failed in his bid to be fit for the meeting at Birmingham on Wednesday night but it was better news for Aussie youngster Poole who came out of the session unscathed and will take his place in the Potters line up.

Bunyan said “I’m feeling a lot better than I was but I’m not quite right at the moment and it will be a couple of more weeks before I’m ready to ride in league action. It was good to be able to get onto the bike and ride but I’m not quite there and I think a realistic target for me to return is likely to be the home meeting against Newcastle early in July. I want to make sure things are right before returning and not let the side down.”

It was better news for Poole who looked quick and ready for action, Poole saying “I feel fine have got some good laps in today and I’m looking forward to returning to face Birmingham on Wednesday.”

Roynon back home

STOKE Easy Rider Potters team manager Malcolm Vasey has confirmed that Adam Roynon is back home after suffering a broken ankle in the defeat at Newcastle last Sunday.

Vasey talking after the win over Birmingham on Saturday said “Adam has been released from hospital and is now back home. He had an operation on the ankle last Monday and unfortunately it looks like Adam will be out for a lengthy spell and we all send him our best wishes for a speedy recovery.”
