RICKY
Wells
turned
in his
best
performance
in Stoke
colours
as he
scored paid
seventeen
points
haul to
help the
Potters
gain all
three
points
over
Glasgow
in the
Premier
League
at
Loomer
Road
last
night.
Wells
chalked
up three
race
wins in
his haul
and he
was well
supported
by guest
Leigh
Lanham
who
scored a
paid
fourteen
points
as the
Potters
gained a
50-41
victory
over the
Tigers.
Potters
boss
Malcolm
Vasey
was
elated
with the
victory
saying
"This
was a
team
effort
and it
was
great to
see all
the team
getting
amongst
the
points.
Everyone
played
their
part
tonight
and our
journey
as a
team is
now
beginning.
I really
do feel
we can
beat
anyone
around
Loomer
Road and
we are
still
not at
our
best,
yes this
was a
good
performance
but
there is
better
to come
and I do
feel
that
once
Taylor
is fully
fit and
Jason
returns
for our
next
home
meeting
in a
couple
of
weeks, along
with
Claus
not many
teams
will
fancy
racing
against
us here
at
Stoke.
Leigh
Lanham
again
was a
superb
guest
for us
and I'd
like to
thank
him yet
again
for all
his
efforts
because
he has
again
been
absolutely
superb
for us
yet
gain.
When you
think
that
Glasgow
have got
two
riders
who have
dropped
down
from the
Elite
League
this
season
it shows
how well
we have
ridden
tonight
as a
team
tonight
and just
what we
can do.
The
crowd
were
also
exceptional
tonight
and they
also
played a
big part
in
tonight's
win and
there is
nothing
like a
Stoke
crowd
roaring
a side
to
victory
and I
want to
hear
them
getting
louder
as the
season
progresses."
The Easy
Rider
Potters
went in
front in
heat two
as Wells
and Lee
Smart
took a
comfortable
5-1 to
put the
Potters
four
points
up, but
Glasgow
struck
back in
the next
race as
Travis
McGowan
and
former
Stoke
rider
John
Branney
took
maximum
points
over Jan
Graversen
and
Taylor
Poole to
level
the
scores
up.
The
Potters
responded
immediately
with a
5-1 in
heat
four to
regain
the lead
with
Hynek
Stichauer
and
Wells
taking
victory
over
Nick
Morris
as Stoke
take a
14-10
lead
after
four
heats.
The
Potters
then
extended
their
lead in
heat six
as
Stichauer
and
Leigh
Lanham
gained
maximum
points
over
Jamie
Courtney
after
Josh
Grajczonek
came a
cropper
while
challenging
Lanham
for
second
place,
Grajczonek
doing
well to
get
himself
and the
bike off
the
track in
order
for the
race to
continue.
It was
Lanham
and
Wells in
heat
eight
that
took the
honours
from
Nick
Morris
to give
Stoke a
twelve
point
lead as
the
Potters
lead
30-18.
Glasgow
team
manager
Michael
Max
introduces
Josh
Grajczonek
as a
tactical
ride in
heat
nine but
it is
fellow
Tiger
Nick
Morris
who
makes a
superb
start to
take
victory
from Jan
Graversen
while
Grajczonek
finally
finds
away
passed
the
struggling
Taylor
Poole to
give
Glasgow
a 5-2
heat
advantage
as the
Tigers
reduce
the
deficit
to nine
points.
Stoke
extended
their
lead to
eleven
points
in heat
twelve
as Ricky
Wells
takes
victory
from
Branney
with
Graversen
taking
third
place
from
Courtney
for a
4-2 heat
win for
the
Potters
to give
Stoke a
42-31
lead
with
three
heats
remaining.
Glasgow
hit back
with a
4-2
themselves
in heat
thirteen
as
veteran
Joe
Screen
and
Grajczonek
made a
good
start
but
Lanham
rode
hard
under
Grajczonek
to take
second
place
and
split
the
Tigers
pairing
as
Glasgow
reduced
the
Potters
lead to
nine
points.
Ricky
Wells
came
into
replace
out of
sorts
Taylor
Poole in
heat
fourteen
and he
duly
delivered
and he
makes a
superb
gate to
lead
Aussie
Travis
McGowan
who puts
pressure
on Wells
for the
whole
for laps
but is
unable
to find
a way
past,
Lee
Smart
managing
to
overhaul
Nick
Morris
to take
third
for a
Stoke
4-2 as
the Easy
Rider
Potters
seal all
three
points
with a
heat
remaining.
Glasgow
have the
final
say in
heat
fifteen
as
former
England
international
Screen
completes
his
maximum
with
victory
over
Lanham
with
McGowan
third
for a
Tigers
4-2 but
it is
not
enough
as the
Potters
gain a
50-41
win over
their
Scottish
counterparts.
Ricky
Wells
was
delighted
with his
performance
and said
"It was
good out
there
tonight
I made a
few
starts
and
things
came
together
really
well; I
didn't
do
anything
differently
than
I've
done all
season
but
tonight
things
just
clicked.
I've
been
practicing
starts
and the all
the hard
work has
paid off
tonight and
hopefully
I can
continue
that at
Glasgow
tomorrow
afternoon
I'm just
really
pleased
to be
scoring
the
points,
I enjoy
it here
at
Stoke and
there is
a good
spirit
in the
pits and
long may
that
continue."
