PS. Hi Frank,
how are you and what do you do these days?
FS. I am very
well thanks, turned 60 last June, a Grandad to 2 boys and run my
own successful company galaxy office seating which I started 20
years ago.

You rode for Stoke in 78/79 how did that come about?
FS. I was
wanted by the promoters at the time, Ray Sant and Chris van
Straaten.
PS. What do
you recall of the track?
FS. It was
good and fast to ride, it was also bumpy and cut up a lot.
PS. You are
best remembered as a Coventry rider, how good was the mid 70’s
Bees teams?
FS. There was
an excellent team spirit and Nigel Boocock was a great guy to
ride with who was superseded by one of the World greats in Ole
Olsen who was in those days the ultimate professional.
PS. How did
the Stoke captaincy come about?
FS. I was
asked and was proud to accept!
PS. When did
you retire from racing?
FS. 1980
season when my wife and I started a family, we have 2 grown up
boys.
PS. Any
regrets from your career?
FS. No none at
all.
PS. How good
was Ole Olsen to ride with?
FS. Top man if
you could stay with him.
PS.
Any particular Stoke memories spring to mind?
FS. Nothing in
particular they were all good.
PS.
Do you keep in touch with any of your old team mates?
FS. Yes
through the World Speedway Riders Association, we have an annual
dinner and dance and its nice to see old faces and you never
know who is going to turn up in any one year.
PS.
Do you stay in touch with the sport?
FS. Yes I
visit Coventry occasionally and read the Speedway Star, but its
all new names to me.
PS. How good
an era was the 70s for Speedway?
FS. Well I
think they were good old days and we had fun and there were lots
of characters.
PS.
Did you enjoy your time as a Potter?
FS. Yes the
lads were all good riders in those days and had good times in
all our meetings.
